Bio Power Business

Biopower business, one of the renewable energy businesses of Thai Roong Ruang Group, was established to produce steam and electricity from biomass energy such as bagasse, sugarcane tops, and sugarcane leaves from sugarcane farmers and producing biogas energy from wastewater from the ethanol production process for use within the production process of sugar factories and ethanol factories and selling excess electricity from demand to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. It is divided into 2 groups:

  1. Group of factories that produce energy for internal use: Group of factories that produce energy for internal use in the production process and have excess electricity from the demand to sell to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the Provincial Electricity Authority. Factories that use biomass fuel include Saraburi Sugar Factory, Wang Muang Branch and Thai Sugar Industry Factory, Thamaka Branch, and factories that use biogas fuel include Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co., Ltd.

  2. Group of power plants that produce electricity for sale are companies that produce energy for sale to sugar factories and sell electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the Provincial Electricity Authority, namely Ruam Kam Larp Power Company Limited, with a total of 3 locations: Wang Muang District, Saraburi Province, Saraburi District, Lopburi Province, and Bueng Sam Phan District, Phetchabun Province.

The Group’s power generation business currently has a total installed capacity of 211 megawatts. This can enhance Thailand’s energy security by distributing electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the Provincial Electricity Authority up to 32 megawatts. It uses bagasse as the main fuel and uses sugarcane tops and sugarcane leaves as additional fuels. Bagasse comes from the sugarcane crushing process of sugar factories, while sugarcane tops come from sugarcane farmers that Thai Roong Ruang Group has campaigned to encourage farmers to cut fresh sugarcane and collect sugarcane leaves to send to sugar factories to help reduce environmental problems and pollution from burning agricultural products. It also improves the quality of life and increases income for sugarcane farmers, which is the development of Thailand’s sugarcane and sugar industries to have energy security while preserving the environment.
