Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co., Ltd. was established in 2004 to produce domestic ethanol, reducing the dependence on imported energy and reducing environmental pollution. The company produces and sells ethanol using molasses and/or sugarcane juice as raw materials and sells it to oil manufacturers and traders for use in producing Gasohol E10, E20, and E85 for consumers. The company currently has a production capacity of 270,000 liters per day.
In addition, Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co., Ltd. has conducted research and experimented on the production of ethanol from bagasse, with cooperation from Marubeni Co., Ltd., TSK Co., Ltd., and Sapporo Brewery Co., Ltd. from Japan, and has received support from the Thai and Japanese governments to reduce dependence on imported oil from abroad, which originates from fossil fuels, which are the cause of greenhouse gases. The world's first ethanol plant produced from bagasse and molasses was established under the cooperation between the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board, the Ministry of Industry, and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), which aims to promote efficient energy use and environmental protection (Green Partnership Program). The Japanese government assists in terms of technology and machinery for producing ethanol from cellulose in bagasse, or Cellulosic Ethanol, a new technology, with Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co., Ltd. as the first prototype in the world.
